Ms. Tracy Sereday

Sixth through Eighth Grade Social Studies Teacher

I am passionate about helping students learn about history and culture. Understanding our past and the diverse perspectives that shape our world is essential for developing empathy and critical thinking. I want my students to appreciate the richness of different cultures and learn valuable lessons from history.

Creating a nurturing and supportive environment is equally important to me. I strive to ensure that students feel cared for and loved within the classroom and the school community. My goal is to motivate students to strive for their best, not only for themselves but also to help those around them. I believe that education is a powerful tool for personal and social change, and I want my students to recognize their potential to make a positive impact in their community and in the world. During the pivotal middle school years, it’s crucial for students to envision their futures. I aim to inspire them to think about the possibilities ahead and understand that with hard work and determination, they can achieve great things. I trust they can stay motivated and embrace challenges. Their growth can open up a world of opportunity.

As a teacher, my personal beliefs come from genuine care and support for my students. I strive every day to provide an environment where they feel valued and encouraged to do their best. Each student has their own strengths, challenges, and interests, and I recognize the importance of meeting their diverse needs with compassion and understanding. Becoming a parent was instrumental for my growth as a teacher. As a parent, I often reflect on how I would want someone to encourage my own children. This perspective drives me to create an engaging and nurturing classroom where all students feel empowered to explore and grow. I aim to model compassion for my students as I hope my children's teachers will provide for them. I also show up to work each day thinking, "Am I making my own children proud?" "Would they be proud to see how hard I work for others?" "Would I want my child in my classroom?" My students I will always call my "big kids”, and I come in each day trying to do my best to help them.

The influence of the family, the influence of the sociocultural and economic context, and the influence of life experience were the main factors the led me to develop in the field of education.

It is about being an educational leader who knows all the communication procedures. I also encourage actions with my student and being committed to the hard work that we do day by day with passion.
