The Elizabeth Public Schools vision is that Elizabeth Public Schools will be one of the highest performing urban school districts in the nation. Our goal is college preparedness, career readiness and on time graduation for every child.
We acknowledge that it is our role to educate all of our students in an environment which they are valued as individuals treated with respect and offer educational opportunities that will allow them to excel. The philosophy of the Elizabeth Athletic Department is that co-curricular activities serve to re-enforce the vision goals and promise of the school district. The Elizabeth Athletic Department considers athletics to be an internal part of education and that participation in sports develop the entire student/athlete. We believe that being part of a team promotes citizenship, leadership and a desire to achieve excellence at a higher level.
The Elizabeth Athletic Department is committed to improving the health and fitness of our student’s attributes that will help them succeed throughout their lives. With this in mind, all of our teams are dedicated to striving for excellent performance within the bounds of exemplary sportsmanship. The ultimate goal being the quest to win championships both in the field of athletics and in the classroom.
Athletic ScheduleAccording to State Regulations and District Policy, students participating in all Interscholastic Athletic Sporting Events and/or Band Programs must adhere to certain guidelines. Any student in grades 7th – 12th that are interested in participating on a sports team grades 9th – 12th in the band must complete an Athletic Sports Physical packet. The packet can be obtained by selecting this link 2020-2021 Athletic Sports Physical Packet, or you can pick up a copy from the Nurse in your child’s school. EPS AD Ben Candelino Inducted to NJSCA Hall of Fame
Elizabeth Public Schools athletic director Ben Candelino was one of 33 coaches inducted to the New Jersey Scholastic Coaches Association (NJSCA) Coaches Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2020 in a virtual ceremony held on January 10.

The Elizabeth Minutemen, ranked No. 9 in the NJ.com Top 20, defeated seventh-seeded Union 1-0 in the quarterfinal round of the Central, East F, Group 4 Middlesex/Union sectional tournament on Tuesday in Elizabeth.
