Jerome Dunn Academy School No. 9 students and teachers were honored to be one of the recipients of the 2017 “Union County Kids Dig In” school garden grant program and couldn’t wait to get started. The students and teachers, along with Groundwork Elizabeth, were joined by Union County Freeholder Sergio Granados, and Elizabeth Board of Education members Stan Neron, Maria Carvalho, Charlene Bathelus, and Diane Barbosa as they officially began the “JDA Field of Greens”. All fresh vegetables will be used in the school to educate students on healthy eating habits, as well as be donated to local families.
