School 20 Partcipates in “Union County Kids Dig In”

  • On May 15,2017, John Marshall School No. 20 was honored by the Union County Freeholders with the first installation of an urban garden.  The garden is sponsored by the Freeholders through the new “Union County Kids Dig In” garden grant.  Schools with students in grades pre-K through 12 are eligible to apply for a Union County Kids Dig In grant. The grants are funded through the Union County Open Space, Recreation and Historic Preservation Trust Fund. Schools that are awarded funding through the Union County Kids Dig In grant program pledge to donate a percentage of their harvest to local food pantries or shelters in their communities. Students from Mrs. Zingaros’ third grade class were privileged to participated in the installation and planting of the new garden.
