School No. 52 Kicks Off Read Across America with Special Guest Readers
The Children of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., School No. 52 – kicked off Read Across America festivities by welcoming Elizabeth Board of Education Members as Guest Readers. Ms. Ileana Chevres and Ms. Maria Carvalho visited and read to several classrooms. Also, joining in the reading celebration - Frank Cuesta, Chief of Operations, Dr. Jennifer Cedeno, Assistant Superintendent for Schools, Hector Munoz, Staff Development Coordinator, Vivian Castano, Supervisor of Language Arts Literacy, Grades K – 5, Cheryl Ferry, Supervisor of Special Services, Julia Lehman, Supervisor of Special Services, Nataly Zetina and Carmela Paternoster from Special Services.
The children were enthusiastically engaged during the event, closing with each child receiving a high five from their guest reader and taking pictures.
As a special Read Across America celebration students from Thomas Jefferson Arts Academy Liberty Players dressed as Cat in the Hat, Thing 1, Thing 2, Princess Dauntless and Prince Winnifred visited the Children of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., School No. 52 and read to the children of Quad 1 – the classic story "The Princess and the Pea". Their enthusiasm and theatrical excitement was shared by all.
