We had the honor to welcome our President Iliana Chevres to Winfield Scott School No. 02. She visited a third grade class, were the process of notating the changes of our bean and squash window garden. This STEM project is helping our scholars to learn the science of plants called botany. They learned how plants grow from seeds and observed how these living organisms change. We used the observation journals to keep a weekly record of each plant’s development.

President Chevres came in when our scholars were in the process of transplanting our garden to a larger planter. She jumped right in and helped to transplant one of our squash plants. She shared one of her dear memories of these scientific activities in Puerto Rico. It was such an awesome experience to have share this part of our project with President Chevres.
