Girls/Boys Basketball were both Victorious in their State Tournament Games 2/26/24

The Elizabeth Lady Minutemen and Minutemen basketball teams were both victorious in their state tournament games at the Thomas G. Dunn Sports Center on Monday night.

The Lady Minutemen went on a 12-1 run in the final four minutes of the game to pull away from 13th-seeded Ridge and win 48-37 in the quarterfinal of the girls NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 2, Group 4 tournament. Alani Gordon scored a team-high 15 points for the Lady Minutemen. Jah'nae Lembrick also scored in double figures with 10 points. Dynasty Chandler and Alexandra Koon grabbed 12 and 10 rebounds, respectively.

The third-seeded Minutemen opened a 13-3 lead in the first six minutes of the game and coasted to a dominating 82-51 victory No. 11 Irvington in the quarterfinal of the boys NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 2, Group 4 tournament. Jordan Torres led a balanced Minutemen attack with a game-high 18 points. London Carson (14), Siraj Abdellah (12), Jayden Johnson (11), and Christopher Clark (10) all scored in double figures.

The Lady Minutemen will go on the road to play top-seeded Plainfield and the Minutemen will host No. 7 Franklin at the Dunn Sports Center. Both semifinal games will take place on Wednesday, February 28, with the girls game starting at 4:30pm and the boys game starting at 7pm.
