Elizabeth Public Schools “6th Annual Strings Night Out”
Elizabeth Public Schools “6th Annual Strings Night Out” Featuring string orchestras from Schools 7, 22, 26, 29, and Elizabeth High School.
On Thursday, February 8, 2018, Dr. Orlando Edreira Academy had the pleasure of hosting the 6th annual Strings Night Out at their new building, the School 31 building on South Elmora Avenue, with performances by string orchestras from Dr. Orlando Edreira Academy, Dr. Albert Einstein Academy, William F. Halloran, Terence C. Reilly, and Elizabeth High School. The event started during the school day with the world-renowned Ahn Trio playing a chamber music concert for the 4th through 8th grade students of Dr. Orlando Edreira Academy as well as visiting students of Terence C. Reilly School No. 7 and William F. Halloran School No. 22. The trio was able to come and perform thanks to the relationship between School 26 and the Nai Ni Chen Dance company, as they recommended having the Ahn Trio come and visit. During the concert, students were presented pieces of different styles spanning from Classic rock to twentieth-century Classical. Following the concert, the students of all performing groups took part in a master class lead by the violinist and cellist of the Ahn Trio, learning about rhythm, bow usage, and energy. After additional rehearsal and a well-deserved dinner break, the concert ensued and each group sounded spectacular! The concert was very successful thanks to all performers, directors, and supporting faculty and staff, and the night was enjoyed by everyone!
