School No. 5 honored World Autism Awareness

During the month of April , Mabel G. Holmes School No. 5 honored World Autism Awareness. To show their support, MGH staff and students wore blue shirts to raise awareness for this developmental disorder. The color blue’s association to autism originated with the autism advocacy association known as Autism Speaks. Their “Light it Up Blue” campaign calls for people to wear blue to promote autism awareness. The color blue holds significant meaning, as it is the most well-known hue associated with autism, symbolizing understanding, support, and a sense of calm. Blue, signifying calmness and serenity was chosen by the National Autism Association as the primary color to represent autism.
