Minutemen Group 4 State Champions
The Elizabeth Minutemen won their second Group 4 championship in three years with a 57-41 victory over Lenape High School in the NJSIAA Group 4 final at Jersey Mike’s Arena in New Brunswick on March 9.
Elizabeth outscored Lenape in all four quarters in a contest featuring two large runs that told the story of the game. Trailing 21-11, Lenape took a three-point lead at 29-26, but the Minutemen charged back with a 15-2 run of their own to reclaim a 10-point lead at the end of three quarters and never looked back. Cameron McRae led Elizabeth with 15 points and added four rebounds, three assists, and two steals. London Carson finished his Minutemen career by contributing 12 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 steals while fellow senior Christoper Clark also scored in double figures in his last game for the Minutemen with 11 points and added five rebounds, three assists, two steals, and a block. Jordan Torres (six points, three rebounds, three assists, four steals, one block), Kareem Anthony, Jr. (six points, two rebounds, two steals, one assist), Jayden Johnson (five points, three steals, two rebounds, two assists), Luis Cuero (two points), Siraj Abdellah (one steal), Jeremiah Adams, and Michael Ologun also contributed to Elizabeth’s championship performance.
Carson, Clark, and Ologun leave the Minutemen program as champions while a large returning group of McRae, Torres, Anthony, Jr., Johnson, Cuero, Abdellah, and Adams will have the opportunity to defend Elizabeth’s Group 4 title during the 2024-2025 season.
