Dear Parent(s) or Guardian:

The safety and wellbeing of all members of the Elizabeth Public Schools learning community is our top priority.

Please be advised that due to a heat advisory issued for tomorrow, Friday, September 8, with anticipated heat index values of 95-100 degrees, all district schools will have an early dismissal.

Students in Grades 9-12 will be dismissed at 11:45 a.m.

Students in Grades Pk-8 will be dismissed at 12:15 p.m.

Elizabeth Public Schools team members will be working together to provide all students with the safest and most comfortable learning environment possible during school hours tomorrow. The school district takes specific measures to keep everyone cool and in good health. These measures include lowering shades early in the morning to keep sun rays from heating the classrooms, using portable fans where available, continuous observation and recording of temperatures in all school classrooms, and limiting physical activities. Furthermore, water will be available to students and staff at each school and multiple water breaks will be taken to keep students and staff hydrated.

I encourage you as a parent to make sure your child drinks plenty of water. Working together, we will keep our students safe, healthy, and happy.

Sincerely,

Olga Hugelmeyer
