    Dear Parents and Guardians:

    The safety and wellbeing of all members of the Elizabeth Public Schools learning community is our top priority.

    Please be informed that students and team members of Juan Pablo Duarte – José Julián Martí School No. 28 were temporarily in a shelter-in-place this morning due to an anonymous report of a potential threat. The building was locked to prevent visitors from entering the building while team members and students were prohibited from exiting.

    The Elizabeth Police Department and leadership of the district’s security department arrived at the school to investigate. The shelter-in-place lasted for approximately 10 minutes before the threat was determined to be not credible and clearance was given to return to regularly scheduled activities.
