Dear Elizabeth Public Schools Families,
Elizabeth Public Schools is committed to promoting social, intellectual, and physical wellness as part of its efforts to create safe and caring environments for all members of its learning community.
One way in which we can help protect our health and the health of those surrounding us is to receive a flu vaccine. This season, all flu vaccines will be designed to protect against the four flu viruses that research indicates will be the most common. Everyone 3 to 5 years of age are required to get an annual flu vaccine, ideally by the end of October or early November. All preschool students must have proof of vaccination provided to the school nurse no later than December 23, 2021. This proof of vaccination is required in order for all preschooler to attend school on Monday, January 3, 2022.
The Union County Immunization Clinic, located at 40 Parker Road in Elizabeth, will be providing free flu vaccines for Union County to our preschooler ages three and four on Wednesday, October 27 and Wednesday, November 3 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome to receive a vaccine.
As we approach the winter season, it is imperative that we continue to emphasize sound personal and public health practices. An important part of those efforts, in addition to the cleaning and sanitizing of learning environments performed by our custodial teams, is practicing and encouraging the practice of proper and thorough hand hygiene. Maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment requires a shared sense of responsibility and a collective participation by all members of our learning community.
