Board of Education Meeting October 20, 2022
At the October 20 Elizabeth Board of Education meeting at Elizabeth High School – Frank J. Cicarell Academy, the Board recognized Admiral William F. Halsey, Jr. Health and Public Safety Academy senior Maria Alejandra Garcia Cabana as a student representative to the Board of Education. Cadet Major Garcia, a member of the Halsey Health and Public Safety Academy MCJROTC program, was introduced to the audience by Halsey Health and Public Safety Academy Principal Christopher VanVliet and Halsey Health and Public Safety Academy MCJROTC Master Sergeant Robert Geralds and was presented with a certificate by the Board in honor of the responsibility she has taken on in serving this special role. Cadet Major Garcia is an operations officer and has many responsibilities, including conducting trainings for the MJROTC rifle team and physical fitness team as well as settings up trips for the program. She has learned and practiced the virtues of respect and discipline while demonstrating excellent leadership skills as a member of the MCJROTC program, all characteristics that make her well prepared and highly qualified to serve this special role as student representative for Halsey Health and Public Safety Academy.
