Estuary Day was held on October 4 at the Peterstown Community Center. Schools that participated included: George Washington Academy School #1, Winfield Scott #2, IPrep Academy#8, Jerome Dunn Academy #9, Christopher Columbus #15, Dr. Antonia Pantoja #27, Juan Pablo Duarte-Jose Julian Marti #28, Dr. Albert Einstein Academy #29, Ronald Reagan Academy #30, John Dwyer Academy, Admiral William Halsey Academy, Thomas Jefferson Arts Academy, and Thomas Edison Career and Technical Academy.
Estuary Day is a much anticipate event sponsored through our partnership with Future City Inc. The theme of this year’s event was Resilience in the Face of Climate Change. Presenters included: the Army Corp, Coast Guard, Historical Society of Elizabeth, GEO Health and NY/NJ Harbor Estuary. Each school also had their own display which was shared with the other participants focusing on an environmental issue which was created with the guidance of Future City. Students also heard from City Council President William Gallman, Councilman Manny Grova, and Board Member Stanley Neron on the importance of protecting the planet for future generations.
