Dear Parents and Guardians:

The safety and wellbeing of all members of the Elizabeth Public Schools learning community is our top priority.

Please be informed that Joseph Battin School No. 4, Nicholas Murray Butler School No. 23, and Nicholas Murray Butler School No. 23 Annex were placed in a lockdown this afternoon at the recommendation of the Elizabeth Police Department due to police activity in the area. The lockdown measure was taken as a safety precaution for students and team members.

Within an hour and a half of the lockdown recommendation, we received guidance from the Elizabeth Police Department that the security measure could be lifted at Schools 4, 23, and 23 Annex and that they could resume their normal operating schedules.
