EPS Hosts SEPAC Meeting on Guardianship of Children with Special Needs
Elizabeth Public Schools hosted a very successful Special Education Parent Advisory Committee (SEPAC) Meeting on Wednesday, May 19 at Frances C. Smith School No. 50. The workshop, rescheduled from last year, was titled Guardianship for Your Special Needs Child and was presented by Lisa Taylor Brophy, Esq., Attorney for the Office of the Union County Surrogate. The meeting covered the steps to apply for the guardianship of the person and estate of an individual eligible for services from the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) and related topics to filing for guardianship.
The meeting, which was also translated into Spanish, was attended to the 30 seat capacity and over 100 viewers watched the event livestreamed on YouTube. Among those attending the meeting were the E-SEPAC committee, Director of Special Services Diana Pinto-Gomez, Special Services Supervisors José Rodriguez and Nancy Morales-Frigoletto, and City of Elizabeth Councilwoman Patricia Perkins-Auguste, who assisted with securing the presenter for the meeting.
