EBOE Reorganization Meeting
The Elizabeth Board of Education held a swearing-in ceremony on Wednesday, January 3 for its three newly elected members at the Board Reorganization meeting at Juan Pablo Duarte – José Julián Martí School No. 28.
Maria Z. Carvalho, Jerry Jacobs, and Rosa E. Moreno Ortega each earned three-year terms in the November 2017 election. Jacobs and Moreno Ortega are both serving their first terms, while Carvalho is serving her second. Carvalho was previously elected in the November 2014 election. Carvalho was sworn in by Assemblywoman Annette Quijano, Jacobs was sworn in by New Jersey Senator Raymond Lesniak, and Moreno Ortega was sworn in by Elizabeth Mayor J. Christian Bollwage.
In addition to swearing in the new members, the Board reorganized and selected Carvalho to serve as president and José M. Rodriguez as vice president.
