Classroom Lessons

Counselors reach all students by teaching lessons throughout the year. Various topics related to academic support, and social-emotional wellness are covered. Some of these topics include study skills, social skills, organization, and time management skills. School counselors and SACs also support students with lessons on social-emotional topics such as transitioning to and from middle school, coping skills, mental health and wellness, healthy decision-making, and risk-taking behaviors.

Collaboration

Counselors regularly collaborate with teachers, nurses, administrators, and student support staff including the Child Study Team.  Supporting students through the intervention and referral services process is a key component to the counseling department.  School counselors also support schoolwide programming and extracurriculars such as Student Government, Peer Leaders, and more.
