Learning and Language Disabilities Mild (LLDm) Program
The Language and Learning Disabilities mild (LLDm) Program supports students who experience challenges in literacy, mathematics, and executive functioning. Designed for students who benefit from a more structured, self-contained environment, the program provides targeted instruction that promotes academic growth, confidence, and independence.
Students access the general education curriculum with appropriate modifications, supplemental materials, and individualized supports that make content meaningful and attainable. A certified special education teacher provides instruction through both small- and large-group learning, ensuring that academic skills are developed at a pace aligned with each student’s strengths, needs, and IEP goals. Instruction focuses on building individualized academic and functional skills that support long-term success.
The program incorporates evidence-based, multi-sensory instructional strategies to make learning accessible for diverse learners. All core content areas, including reading/language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, and health, are taught using differentiated methods that address multiple learning styles.
To support the whole child, the classroom environment emphasizes positive behavior supports and the reinforcement of appropriate social and pragmatic communication skills throughout the school day. Students receive consistent modeling, guided practice, and encouragement to help them interact effectively with peers and adults.
A strong collaborative approach ensures that teachers, related service providers, specialists, and families work together to promote continuity across settings and a shared understanding of student needs. Students are provided opportunities to participate in the general education to the maximum extent possible as appropriate.
